Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA)

The Medi-Cal Administrative (MAA) Activities Program is a federally funded program, administered by the State Department of Health Services that promotes access to health care for pre-K through 12th grade students in public schools, and coordinates student health care needs with Medi-Cal service providers.

Good health is essential for successful student achievement.  Linking students with the Medi-Cal program positively impacts their education and their attitude.  The state of a child’s physical and mental health can improve school performance by:
  • Increased attendance
  • Increased concentration levels in the classroom
  • Expanded ability to participate in extracurricular activities
Medi-Cal offers medical services to children whose families are unable to pay healthcare costs.  Many of those families are unaware of the program and do not know that they may be eligible for Medi-Cal assistance.  School districts play a key role in connecting children and families to health services provided by Medi-Cal.

The attached Medi-Cal Outreach flyers are available as a resource to students and families on an as-needed basis.  The outreach is provided for your use throughout the year should you need to refer students and families to Medi-Cal services in our area.
